Dayclub Minimum-Negotiations

If it's just a guy and a girl hitting up a dayclub when speaking with a host trying to negotiate a better minimum for say a daybed is it better to say it will be 3 girls and 1 guy (and then pick up two girls to walk in with i.e. 1:3 ratio) or just say it will be a girl and a guy.

Do they possibly quote better minimums if the ratio is better or do they hike up the minimum if there are more people?

Daybed mins are pretty flat. If it's just you and your girl just get two chairs, unless you really want the space.

I don't think you will get a lower minimum with a better ratio, and I don't think they will hike the daybed minimum if you are between 2 and 5 persons. Will be a different story if you want a daybed for 12 people.

for the most part, the minimums are pretty much set, especially on busy weekend days. in some instances though, if its a group of all girls, and the bed was supposed to be 1500, we may be able to give it to them for 1000, because it makes the place look better. but in general terms, even if it's just 2 people, that same bed could be sold for the price the club wants to a group of 5 or 6 people, so the real estate is still worth that amount to the venue, so there is little incentive to let it go for a lower minimum to the smaller group. but it never hurts to ask, the worst reply will be 'sorry, i can't go lower'. nothing ventured, nothing gained
