Gun Range

I want to go to the Gun Range, can someone tell me the name/website and maybe their experiences there?

and also the cost, I want to shot some glocks and machine guns.... why not its Vegas lol!!!

A few things:
I've heard several bad things about the Las Vegas Gun Store w.r.t. shooting full-auto weapons. They've done great marketing, but I've been told it's a long Disneyland style wait to get only a few minutes of time with a gun that will probably jam at least once per magazine. Other ranges have better reputations. If you're willing to drop some money, you can probably get private attention in any place. I've heard at least one good report about Machine Guns Vegas, but I haven't been and I don't know that guy well so I can't be sure.

As another option, do you live in the US? Indoor ranges aren't common in all areas, but they are around. It's not Vegas, but they'll be cheaper and less crowded than Vegas. Nearly all indoor ranges that rent pistols will rent Glocks. Depending on where you live, you might even find full-auto. PM me and I can help find you a local place if you want to go that way.

As far as cost, most non-Vegas ranges charge for range time ($10-$20/hr), charge to rent the gun ($10-$30) and you buy boxes of ammunition (varies a lot, 9mm is $10-$15 per box of 50). Las Vegas ranges tend to sell packages, you pay a given price for a single fun w/ 50 rounds of ammo or you get a package of 2-4 guns with ammo included. These are probably start at about $100 for a full-auto with 50 rounds and a pistol with 20 rounds. That's a really basic starting point, I've seen advertising for packages that cost $300 and more.

I've also been looking in to this - the main options being the Gun Store (smaller, more cramped, more selection) and Las Vegas Gun Range (larger, quieter, less selection) from what I can see. Everyone seems to have their pro's and con's for each but I'm not expecting to get much for less than $100.

There is a service in the UK that sets up packages for groups (Not sure which store) but they are up in the $200 range!

I just want to go to one close to the strip. Im from Canada so we dont have a lot of gun ranges around. Any gun ranges that are a taxi ride from the strip? Im planning on spending 100-120 per person there.

There are several places a cab ride from the Strip.

- "The Gun Store" is the most famous, but you may end up waiting an hour or more for a few minutes of time. It's about 3-4 miles East of Flamingo. I still say thumbs down to this.

- "Guns and Ammo Garage" is just west of the strip near Luxor. I don't know anything about them, but it's really close to the Strip.

- "Discount Firearms + Ammo" is REALLY close to the Strip. It's between Las Vegas Blvd and I-15, near Trump and Encore. I've heard from one gunnie (that's what some gun nuts call themselves) about this place, he liked it.

- "Machine Guns Vegas" is close to Discount Firearms, but slightly farther West and slightly south. Just West of I-15, sort of close to Spearmint Rhino. You could do a Guns and Girls night if you wanted to (do it in that order, don't drink before going to a gun range). I've heard several good things about this place.

It looks like all those places are probably 3-7 miles away depending on which hotel you're coming from.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but me and some mates are coming over for NYE and we'd like to go on the range. As the gun laws in the UK are very strict (don't start me on that one). Is there any where that does outdoor shoots? As the idea of standing in an indoor gallery range doesn't float my boat, if poss would they be able to organise a vehicle shoot or a CQB, Snapshoot range???

Machine Guns Vegas or Discount Firearms + Ammo. That's my best guess. I haven't been to any of the Vegas ranges. If I was going, I would try Machine Guns Vegas first based just on what I've heard from others.

Jim, first I'm assuming you're a beginner becuase you talked about the strict laws in the UK and that implies you don't regularly shoot.

I haven't researched this well, but "tactical" (vehicle, CQB) type stuff tends to be part of day long (or multi-day) training classes and not targeted at the beginner and focused on teaching skills and not just running you through a shoot house. There's is training place in Pahrump called "Front Sight". They do training, but you could try calling them and see if they'll do a beginner shoot experience. They might do it for a price. You might also try this with any of the "machine gun indoor range" places. If you offer them a bunch of money, they might be able to setup an outdoor shoot.

On a quick search, I didn't see any outdoor ranges near Las Vegas that look like "take a bunch of beginners through this course". They seem to be more: "bring your rifle, shoot at 100yds" or "bring your shotgun, here's the skeet field". I might be wrong, but after a quick glance online these places look like traditional outdoor ranges in the US.

There is a place in Texas called Texas Triggers that runs anyone from complete beginners to experienced shooters through a variety of wild scenarios. They provide everything, you just show up. It's based on the challenges from the US TV show "Top Shot". It's the only place I've heard of that does really interesting scenarios for complete beginners.

Machine Guns Vegas has outdoor packages but they are pretty expensive. You can shoot a full scale RPGS though.

Me and the lads are all ex-army so we're pretty clued up with range safety and NSP's. We all haven't shot for a while (since we all got out) so it would be great to get outside and shoot as we used to do....
An outdoor range is defiantly what we want to do, and we're not too worried about the cost (well as long as I don't have to sell a kidney)
I have been in touch with MGV but here sales team hasn't got back to me yet. Are the ranges open on a Sunday???
As that would be the day that we would want to go for as I have another mate travelling in from Canada to meet us and he wants to do the shoot as well.

I've never been to these places, I shoot locally. So, I don't know anything about them besides what I can find on their websites and what others have told me. If you do their outdoor package, I'd be really interested in hearing about it.
