  • Pool fun for married dudes

Heading out this weekend to reunite with some school friends. Five of us are married, three are single. The single guys are pushing for places like Wet or Marquee on Saturday. Married guys would prefer somewhere more affordable and comfortable. As a compromise, someone has suggested getting a cabana at the Palms. However, it seems that the general opinion on this forum is that the Palms is no good on Saturdays.

The $150/head it would take to get the Palms cabana is probably the max that the married guys want to spend. Given this limitation, along with someplace to sit in the shade, is the Palms the best option? I realize that with these limitations there's going to be a corresponding downgrade in the fun factor (be it music, women, general craziness), but are there better options with those pricing and comfort constraints?

Are you staying at the Palms?

Being married does not mean you cannot talk to women. Go to Wet or Marquee. Spend $$$ on a cabana. Talk to women. Catch and release is fine.

Edit to note that I guaranty that if the married dudes loosen up and talk to women (actually initiate contact and chat up ladies), they will have a great weekend and will be ready to go back soon.

Bare pool at the mirage is surprisingly affordable for a cabana, and as topless optional might be worthwhile. It's relatively small though.

Duly noted. I think the married guys won't have any problems chatting with whoever, the only issue is that they have to answer to wives who are going to ask why they dropped $400+ to talk to bikini-clad women.

(and of course not all the guys have been doing their stomach crunches and drinking protein shakes on a regular basis, if you know what I mean, so I have my doubts as to how many pretty young things will be coming to our cabana to chat anyway)

Thanks, we'll look into it. Any opinion on Liquid?

Sometimes its all about the company and having fun with the homies. Just because you're married doesnt mean you cant enjoy the dayclub/pool scene. Doesnt matter if you're mr six pack either. F-It. Its all about having fun no matter what. Enjoy the music, the booze, the view, and the eyecandy.

Cabanas at the MGM Grand Pool Complex are a good deal. I think it's a great scene if you wan't something a little more relaxed. Different areas each with a different vibe and there is a large diverse crowd. Plenty of chicks too.

Thanks for the suggestion. My understanding with cabanas at non-Wet MGM was that you are paying for real estate and there are a lot of kids running around. Is this not accurate?

You get a minimum spend requirement. I got one back in May for 2 days and yeah, there were a couple of kids around but it's not like it felt like disneyword or what not. The majority was people in your age range both days.

When are you guys going? Tell the fellas to start hiding some cash from the wifey now. (They should have started the minute the trip was planned). They need to get creative on how they spend their money. Have the married guys pay for dinner on their credit cards while the single guys pay for day/night clubs. Even if you guys to to any hotel pool to booze and eat all day, you are probably gonna drop at least $200 per person anyway. Skip the expensive steak dinner and drop the other $150 on a dayclub.
I went with my wife and 2 other couples to Wynn a few months ago. We had a great time at the Encore European pool on Saturday. It wasn't the raging time you can have at a day club, but they had a DJ and things started to get a little crazy as the day went on. (There was some sort of dance off with a few topless milfs and some chicken fights).

Contact Chris Traer @ Tao Beach. His contact info is on the contact list page. Your friends will get the party vibe they are looking for, and you'll get the affordable cabana / couch or daybed the married folks are looking for. I'd choose Tao Beach over any other spot if I was on a budget.
