  • EBC No Show Fee Authorization & Pre-Auth

Does anyone have any experience with this? I have to put down a deposit for half my min which is non-refundable so I would lose out on it if I don't show up. Just wondering because I've never had to do this before. Any experiences to share? Thanks!

Encore Beach Club is one of the few places that does this, but if you do decide to cancel they do give you a couple days to do so.

"To guarantee your reservation we will require a 100% credit card pre-authorization hold. The pre-authorization will place a hold in the amount above on your credit card 48 to 72 hours before your Reservation Date. Please note pre-authorization holds on debit cards will freeze the funds in the account in the amount of the pre-authorization and can take up to 7 business days to clear from the account; because of this we discourage guests from using debit cards."

"Encore Beach Club Advance Reservation Cancellation Policy: If the cardholder cancels six (6) or more days prior to the Reservation Date, the cardholder will not be charged for cancelation. If the cardholder cancels within five (5) days to seventy-two (72) hours prior to Reservation Date, the cardholder will be charged fifty percent (50%) of the Table Minimum and issued in a gift certificate to Encore Beach Club valid for one (1) year from the cancellation date. Cardholders that cancel less than seventy- two (72) hours prior to the Reservation Date will be charged fifty percent (50%) of the Table Minimum and will receive no refund or credit."

Depends on the dates. EBC is already sold out of lower cabanas for this weekend, so if its a busy weekend, I could understand a host asking. Helps make sure their client doesnt get bumped, before they get there.

Fair enough. May 19 which is a non-event weekend and the week before MDW. Will ask if it's a necessity but guess there's little choice and as you say avoids getting bumped.

              so general question about pre-booking....

is it possible to get a quote from a host on the exact preferred location and lock it down by pre-paying for that table? so that when the day/night comes you are guaranteed the requested spot and can show up at say midnight or so on a busy weekend ?

no - the t&cs explicitly say the location isn't guaranteed. so i've booked a beach couch so i assume they won't go any lower to say which exact beach couch.

Id definitiely make sure my table number was on the pre-auth before I signed it. No way Id consider it without it.

I was required to get a pre-auth for my great minimum on a beach couch for Friday May 10. I originally baulked at the idea of the pre-auth, but after thinking further, I actually don't mind it. This way I can't bitch out when I'm feeling hungover at 10AM and just wanna keep sleeping.

                      That's the spirit...!
Just make sure you can see your table location so it doesn't get to bad after you've paid...

With pre-auths, even though it isn't "guaranteed" can you still get bumped for a big shot? I'm talking if I'm there when they open, have done a pre-auth, get sat at the agreed upon table and then some NFL'er shows up and wants my section...can I get booted or even have my min spend increased because a "VIP" shows? Coming for MDW and know tons of NFL'ers are there that weekend so that's my only fear of doing pre-auth.

                          the form says

"THERE IS NO GUARANTEE OF TABLE LOCATION AND/OR PLACEMENT / GUEST MUST CHECK IN AT FRONT PODIUM BY 11:30 AM"

but it does say which table type, e.g. beach couch the min is set against and the max no of people.

given theres only 6 beach couches i assume they can't really bump you anyway.

its all thourhg anthony k so assuming it'll be fine...

According to Anthony K, the reason you're doing the pre-auth is to guarantee your minimum spend at that location (ie beach couch, lily pad, etc). I wasn't given a location for my beach couch, but I was told by Anthony to arrive around 1130AM and there'd be a beach couch in a high traffic area (513 I believe). And there'll be a good handshake involved as well.

Once your sat down at a location, its not likely they would move you. They might offer to move you to a better location, but downgrading you or giving you the boot after your seated is very unlikely. That would be castrophic to the venues reputation.
