  • Wet republic v MGM directors pool, and hows all this work?

    Hi all,

We have a group of guys (Stag party) coming out for Labor Day weekend.

We are trying to get our plans together and wanted to hit a pool party.

A couple of us were out on Labor Day weekend a couple of years ago, and the MGM Pool complex had its own DJ over by the directors pool and it was pretty good (music and people).

However we are very tempted with a trip to Wet Republic (we are all staying at MGM Grand).

    So my questions
    - does the MGM normal pool complex normally have DJs on Labor Day weekend?
    - if we book a Cabana at WR then I understand that this is a min F&B cost, do we also have to pay entry to the club?

Basically we are trying to weigh up option 1 and 2
Option 1 - party in a Cabana at MGM pool, min $1k spend no entry fee (but will there be good music??). Then spend some of the saved cash on nightlife
Option 2 - party at a Cabana in Wet Republic, min $3k? spend, +entry fee? (13x$100?)

Also if we go into WR, can we easily go in and out (back to Hotel) or is that a nightmare (especially on Labor Day weekend). I see this as maybe a plus for MGM as the guys can wander off and go gamble etc. if they like.

    Thanks.

Firstly, just go to Wet Republic forget about the Directors pool, you will have a way way better time at Wet Rep.

Regarding entry fee, if you have a Cabana booked you do not need to pay entry fee. However, with it being LDW the minimums will be higher than your usual week, so I would contact a host and find out (Thomas Gorman is the man for Wet Rep). I'm not sure about leaving and re-entering, but I don't see why you would want to leave anyway.

Wet is an adults only dayclub and there's way more hot women there. In fact, waitress's are models and I swear they all are required to have abs this year. The directors pool is just an ordinary Vegas pool with a no name dj with two speakers. Go to wet. It'll cost you but you won't regret it. For LDW theres no re-entry. Whoever they book that day will be there late so if you want to see them expect to be there early and spending $$$ to drink all day till they come.

Totally depends what kind of scene you are looking for. I'm gonna be honest and say that as I age (early 30's, haha) I've found the main pool complex at MGM to me more my speed. I like cabanas there and we simply have our server bring over some groups of girls after we've scouted them out. Last time there (a few weeks) ago there was a DJ on Saturday (don't remember if there was a DJ on Fri). Or you can do a cabana near the lazy river which gets very active on the weekend.

But if you're looking for that real party scene, then you want to be at Wet. Just gotta see what kind of action your group is looking for and can endure!

I was at Wet Republic this past weekend and it was a blast. As we walked through the main pool area to get there, we could not believe how many little kids were running around everywhere, swimming, etc. I don't know how you guys like to party, but we definitely aren't appropriate enough to be around children. Go to wet and have a blast! I think the pool parties are worth your money more than the nightclubs to be honest... the day clubs are my favorite part of Vegas!

Also take in account whatever minimum spend you are quoted for wet republic you have to take in to account the local taxes and automatic gratuity.

              Hi all,

              Thanks for the advice.

How do I get in contact with Thomas from the UK?

I'm now thinking both - party day at WR (probably Saturday is best), then a slightly more chilled party at MGM main pool complex with a cabana.

Any contacts for either really appreciated.

                [email protected] for Thomas.

For MGM pool, contact the hotel directly.

Wet Republic all the way if you're looking to party. There will be a fairly big name DJ there that weekend. Place will be bananas. Thomas Gorman is definitely the host to use for Wet. It's not even a comparison to the regular pool.
