Pool party attire?

Sorry if this has been covered but i searched and coldnt see anything.

While looking through the shoe thread, i was thinking what do people wear to the pool parties?

guys - shorts, top, footwear of somewhat
girls - as little as possible please.

no in all seriousness im from the UK and long board shorts dont tend to be the norm more often it is football(soccer) shorts length we wear to the pool.

any advice would be great thanks

flip flops/sandals... depending on the time of year you go, the flooring around the pool may be too hot to stand on barefoot (ie. July/August).
