  • Shadow Creek Golf Course

I’ve had great success with the contacts on this forum for the clubs. However, I’m planning a trip to Vegas for my parents on February 9th to see Elton John as a Christmas present. I’m trying to get my Dad and a guest on Shadow Creek Golf Course on February 10th. Even though I booked my parents into a penthouse at the Bellagio, Shadow Creek is saying invited guests only Friday thru Sunday and the casino marketing department was unresponsive. Does anyone have a any sort of connection here that might enable me to get a Friday tee time for my Dad? Thank you!

Hi Mikey - yes it is an MGM owned, private course. They say hotel guests can play Monday thru Thursday for $500. And the greens fees are fine; I have no objection. But you have to be an "invited guest" for Friday thru Sunday. I was hoping either a high ranking casino host or someone at the course could help get us that "invited guest" status. Again, I do have a penthouse at the Bellagio booked so there is certainly a connection here for a hotel guest. Thanks.

Hi Mikey - sorry, it doesn't look like I can PM you back because my post count is less than 5. Anyway, the reservation was booked through American Express Platinum Travel. It's just one night at Bellagio (Feb 9th). There'd be two golfers. Thanks!

Steve Wynn built that course... and used to live on it, until Kerkorian bought him out.

just a little semi-usless tidbit info for ya (and your dad, if you manage to swing it).

As an alternative, if they won't work with you on it after shelling out for a Penthouse and being willing to do whatever they want to get the invite... send them a big fat FUCK YOU by booking at Wynn, instead. There is a fantastic golf course attached to the Wynn / Encore, which used to be Wilbur Clark's Desert Inn golf course... *the only one on the strip* Wynn totally re-made this golf course when he built the hotel in 2004. (the Shadow Creek course is W-A-Y up North of LV, 20+ mins from Aria, btw).

Call MGM back and tell them you are cancelling the Aria penthouse reservation in favor of Wynn / Encore because MGM refused to work with you on Shadow Creek. Should be good for some lulz... record the convo and post back

If you're shelling out for Penthouse, MGM needs to come up off a tee time, man. Don't get pushed around. Many would say Wynn is a nicer place for couples, anyway.

I know some Bellagio senior casino marketing people pretty well, are you still having an issue?

Hi Sir Pearce – thanks for checking in. I struck out all the way around with Shadow Creek so had to go with another route for golf. I tried calling myself to Bellagio concierge and Bellagio marketing and even called the course direct. No luck. Then I had the American Express Platinum concierge see what they could turn up with their contacts in the casino marketing at Bellagio (they talked to Francisco and Gloria, not sure if either of them are who you know). The response was the same that it’s invite only for golf Friday thru Sunday.

At this point I’m over it and am content with other golf options in the area. Obviously it was a chance for Bellagio to make an impression on me as someone who hasn’t really developed strong loyalty to one property and rotates between Encore, Bellagio, and Venetian depending on what I have planned for the trip. While I’m no whale and don’t gamble, I stilled spent about $40k at Vegas properties this year so it would have been nice to feel like I was being taken care of at least a little. But I guess if they have enough people dropping hundreds of thousands if not millions it makes me inconsequential.

The Wynn course (directly behind the Wynn) is IMHO a better golf course and a better experience than Shadow Creek (I have played them both). With respect to the course, both are Fazio designs and although I think Fazio is consistent in his product I liked the Wynn lay out better. As to experience, the Wynn course is right out the back door of the Wynn. You walk through the casino, down a hallway and there it is (the pro shop is in the hotel). For me that was much cooler than taking a limo/car to Shadow Creek. And the view of the strip from the Wynn course is way cool.

While I agree they are both great, been to both a few times, I preferred Shadow Creek because it made me feel like I was somewhere else other than Las Vegas. The Wynn still feels like an attachment of the property, Shadow Creek is more of a destination, as I see it. The Wynn golf Villas are ridiculous though, if I am not mistaken that is where Steve himself lives when on-property...I think I heard he has a fence for his dogs adjacent to the course.
