Flashed some money and got upgraded to a Vista Room (originally a comped hollywood hip king). Strip View wasn't that great since it was only on the 12th floor. Ended up tipping $50, she couldn't do the panoramic for $100 since it was Thursday to Sunday.

Not complaining since it was a comp and the wifey liked the room alot!

$20 sandwich in Aug 2013 moved me from a Resort King to a Tower King (slightly more SqFt and is a corner room)...there are not a ton of room categories, so unless you're willing to pay $$ to upgrade to a suite, a fountain view room is the likely upgrade.

I think next time I go to Vegas i'm going to GoPro the whole experience. I don't think that's been done before for the sandwich.

That's a great idea. Then JC should pin the thread.

Ok, do you know what type of king room has the nicer blue interior? I've seen some pics of rooms with that nasty mustard yellow look and it's terrible. Corner room I take it perks are less noise (further from elevator? ) Does it have different window views, like one of the lake and one of another area or is it standard view?. I've done a bit of research in suites, going to try $100 tip and ask for Cypress suite/or penthouse in a few weeks. Will update with end result..

Bellagio corner room (Tower King) has windows that are strip-facing, and either north or south (up or down the strip). It's a looong walk from the elevator, but the rooms are slightly larger than your standard resort king, and IMO, worth a $20-$50 sandwich. I think all rooms in the hotel have been redecorated to the blue and white decor (you may be seeing some older pics). If I'm not mistaken, the suite rates are WAY more than a standard room, so I honestly think it's unlikely you'd be upgraded from a standard room to a penthouse, regardless of sandwich size.

Based on what I've read on this site, Aria appears to be extremely sandwich unfriendly.

Asked for suite last year Labor Day wknd. Offered $100 no go. Kind of no personality abc by the books lady. I'm sure Labor Day had a ton to do with it but she didn't even seem interested in the $100 or to try to counter offer me something. Asked for whatever she could do better than my basic room and gave me a city view room $20 tip. I tipped basically out of good karma as the city view isn't really tip worthy.

Anyone use the sandwich when all you want is some free drink tickets?
I figure when a RBV costs around $15 at the bar if I can get a few drink tickets it would be worth the $20 tip.

Scoped the Bellagio check in desk for 15mins waiting for a younger guy, finally found perfect guy in late 20s. I get to the front desk in a good mood good energy etc, engage him he's laughing all good. He literally goes I'm just closing my shift, but XYZ will help you. Picture the scene from Casino when Joe Pesci is playing blackjack and he goes "look at this beaut they send in now" that's who I get. I make small talk with him about where he's from because I'm familiar etc. Basically he gives a bit of a snarky attitude because my room was notated for fountain view, but he had it as standard. So he calls Mlife and they say ok yeah that's fine we can do fountain. I place $100 bill on counter and say are there any complimentary cypress suites available? He says yes for $500 a night. I say ok any other complimentary suite upgrades available and kinda push the $100 on the counter towards up like uhhhh this is for you if you can figure something out here...he basically says nope sorry. GF said both clerks on each side of him were seriously eyeballing the $100 and got the vibe they prob woulda tried to accomadate more so then the grump I got. So, Bellagio no go $100 attempt.

Anyone know if this trick works for Paris? Also does it matter if we do the trick at the regular front desk or in their diamond check in area?
