I think the AOD needs to go to war. Pick a weekend and rent the whole damn hotel out, then 4 days before, everone call and complain about the key access and cancel.

I'm there on business 3 days before invasion begins and was going to do wrap up sessions in my room since it was larger than the others.

Well, they want a nice quiet hotel, with stupid ass rules like this it will eventually be quiet...real quiet.

pfff you way underestimate the stalking abilities of a pyscho female in Vegas. Women can figure out how much you weighed at birth and your mothers maiden name in no time flat when on a mission haha. I figure it's easier to go the the opposite sex's room cause it's easier to sneak out then to have to deal w/ kicking someone out.

Sorry to be the bearer of news but my buddy stayed there this weekend and I was not let up because I did not have a room key.
how the hell are you supposed to bring back girls then...

Elara... cock blocking since 2 weeks ago.

I can just picture this news story after AOD: Guy sues Elara for cock blocking him by not allowing him to bring a chick back to his room. When asked for a comment, Elara management stated, "no room key, no sex".

I'm just hoping the rooms arent as dirty and broken as some of those TA reports say. I can deal with the rest of the crap.

OK...took the offensive to see what they say.

                        My e-mail:

                        Mr. Anderson,

I got your e-mail from the response you left on the Yelp.com website. I have a stay booked at the Elara for a Sales Expo in Las Vegas from May 15-21. I was checking the hotel on Yelp and I’m a little concerned with some of the reviews regarding the key card elevator policy. From what I have read, it looks like they will not allow anyone but the person with the room key to enter the elevators? What is the policy on guests having business associates or friends to their room? There is nothing on the Elara web site with regard to this policy. BTW: I’ve never seen any hotel that precludes guests from having other people up to their room. Its one of the very reasons that I have upgraded to suites in the past when I travel on business or pleasure.

BTW: One of the reasons I booked at Elara is due to the larger rooms than where some of my associates are staying will allow us to have a debriefing in the evening before going to dinner or out for the evening. In addition, in the past we have had clients meet at our suite for drinks before going out. This was one of the hotels recommended on our corporate travel from various previous visits of other associates.

I’m sure its not as bad as it sounds, but I would appreciate if you can help shed some light onto this for me.

                        Thank you for your time.

                        Their Response:

                        Mr. Augustine,

Thank you for your inquire regarding Elara. The resort became a Hilton Grand Vacations March 1 and frankly we intend to reposition the property in the coming months and year. The suites are wonderful, but unfortunately we currently have a clientele that “packs” many more guests in each room or suite than is safe or respectful. During spring break we were overwhelmed with damage, drunkenness and an atmosphere I for one have never seen in my 35 years managing resorts. Unfortunately guests complain about noise, foul language, and all that comes from a “frat party” that’s out of control. Under the circumstances we will continue to ask to see room keys for guests since we can control to some degree the number of people in each room or suite. I would ask that you register and let us know what you want to do? If you have a two bedroom suite certainly eight people can sleep in the suite. If you want to have a hospitality suite we can make those arrangements selling you hors’ doeurves and beverages for the suite. Then we would allow guests to attend your suite, but even then each room has a maximum capacity. Please let me know what you would like to do and we can make the arrangements for a wonderful suite that is suitable for entertaining your guests.

                        Michael

NOTE: Notice how he didn't actually answer the question???

Another e-mail to try and get a straight forward response:

                        Mr. Anderson,
I do understand the challenge you are facing in trying to change the culture from the old Planet Hollywood Westgate to a more conservative upscale location for Hilton Honors and vacation club clientele. I’m sure it’s not going to be an easy transition.

Currently, I am only registered for a Junior Suite as its likely to only have 2-3 people from my own company, at most, to the room. It seems like the Jr. Suite has a nice sitting area and we were not planning to spend a large amount of time there. I had no plans for anything more and most of the entertaining will likely be done at restaurants or clubs.

I guess the real question is this, from May 15-21, if I walk up to the hotel elevator with 1-2 people who are not staying at the Elara, will they be stopped because they don’t have a room key? That would be an embarrassment all around.

Waiting on a response...will let you know.

They will never give you a straight answer in writing.

I've talked to another Manager @ Elara as well as people who have been over the last few weeks.... the answer is:

                              A. It all depends.

People have reported walking past security with a visitor only showing 1 room key. Others have reported, everyone had to show a key. My guess is, if you look the part then security will ask to see everyone's key. Soooo your best bet is to ask for max # of room keys allowed for your suite when you check in. 2 Bedroom is 6 I think. Then just hand out the keys. ....or I lost a key always works to get an extra one.
