Bottle service and giving away drinks

Ok... here is my thoughts on this.

There seems to me to be an overemphasis on the protection of the bottles and the access to those bottles. At the end of the day, you are moreso paying for the privilege of the real estate rather than the bottles. If you think of it this way, whether you have 2 bottles or 10 bottles, the real estate is what stays constant.

In light of this, the real estate is vital for 1) bringing girls back to chat/dance/sit down/drink 2) getting VIP entry and treatment.

If you think about it this way... why get hung up on who drinks what and how much...

If you are going to be a wannabe "baller" and constantly bring girls over and you only have 2 bottles and 6 guys... its likely that this will run out fast... so dont do it... just enjoy your space to yourselves... and bring girls over to chat.

If bottle protection is such a big issue, just tip your security a bit more and make it explicit to him that these guys can drink/pour and the rest cant.

I wouldn't leave it security to manage who pours at your table unless you forked over a c-note at the very least.

I had a bouncer give us some good advice once. He said if you have ladies at your table introduce yourself and don't give them a drink immediately. After a few minutes ask them what your name is. If they took the time to remember, they are worth pouring a drink for. If they don't even remember your name give them the boot. Decent way to avoid bottle rats

I think the fear more or less emanates from the worry that once the alcohol is gone you might get bumped. While I know this doesnt happen often, I can imagine (as i feel so myself) that you dont want to have a good location right at primetime and be completely out of alcohol with pretty much no room to buy another bottle. I have been with friends that literally had only enough money to their name to pitch in the table lol. I had to make sure they didnt down everything between 10 and 12 because we had only 2 bottles and i knew they wouldnt give me more money later. I even bought two rounds of beers because I felt bad. I wasnt going to fork over another bottle though.

No one wants to have a great table for a Sat night and come back before the headliner to find that all the alcohol is gone because your pals decided to be friends with everyone.

Sometimes its a tough call to fork over another $700+ for a bottle. The guys that were downing the booze prior and looking for more will have second thoughts once you tell them they need to give you another couple hundred bucks to keep the party going another hour or two.

Its kind of embarrassing when you are the name of the table/head of the group and your low baller crew smashes through your minimum with no chance of another bottle well before the night really gets going. Shits expensive lol ;(

I find it hard to try and convince the waitress that we are fine without her help. A few times I have turned around to find her hands deep in the mix being bartender extraordinaire.

Having security make sure no one touches your booze would be a cool thing. I usually tip them $40-60 so doubling that for the added bonus of having him watch the booze too seems enticing.

Any tips on how to control the waitress? In march i asked her to stagger the bottles and she brought them both out then opened them immediately. I wasnt in a position to flash my wallet and bitch but it did annoy me that she didnt listen to my request.

I wouldn't bother security with watching over your drinks (except if you go to the dancefloor and leave belongings and bottle alone). Remember they have multiple tables to deal with + the crowd + looking out blatant drug use,etc. That's what the waitress is for. Simply tell her to only pour for the guys and you'll pour for the girls. Now as for the bottle delivery, don't give her set times, tell her to bring out one bottle to start and you'll let her know when to bring out the next one. If she brings both, tell her to take one back.

As the prior poster said, don't tip on top of the 20%. The odds are good your waitress will be hot, will chat you up, will be charming, etc. But don't tip her extra because of it. That is money wasted. 20% on $3,000 is $600. That is a big enough tip. Don't fall for her any requests for an extra tip (we all have).
