Wow such great responses Chuck! Would you consider Tryst a T2? What do you think of Haze? Ever try BS there? I guess reality is sinking in and we will focus the best bang for our buck at a T2.

I consider Tryst a T2...you may see higher minimums there on occasion if they have a big DJ...some would consider Tryst to be a Tier 1B....same goes for Hyde, Hyde has higher minimums than other Tier2 clubs. I like Haze alright, haven't done BS there though. I'd do bottle service at 1OAK before Haze personally....just like the setup a little better.
Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.
Chuck, can you give me your thoughts on BS budget breakdown for Tryst, sticking with 10-12 guys for a decent inside table? What's your opinion of the place?
Breakdown's all end up being the same in the end. The minimum is the key to everything, once you know that it's all about table location, the DJ/music format, and the club layout itself.

Thanks triple c. You're right about the breakdown, I just have to pick my club and my night and see with the appropriate host what the table minimums are. I guess two weeks before is the earliest possible. Is it a good idea to give the host a heads up and introduce myself before that time, say a couple of months in advance, or is this a waste of time?
On a somewhat related matter, what are you guys hearing about Hakkasan's opening? Will they poach the best hosts and staff from XS and Marquee?
They will try to poach from XS and Marquee, but you probably won't see the top tier hosts from either venue leave. They are more likely to use the existing AMG staff with some hungry young hosts from other companies in Vegas. Recently heard rumors they were going to do what amounts to two main rooms, one dance music and the other hip hop. Not entirely sure how I feel about that to be honest.

I wouldn't really like a club to have 2 big rooms playing different music. You get a much more mixed crowd. Plus, if they have say total capacity of x, and they let x people in, who all go to one room or the other, then you could potentially have one room where people are packed like sardines and another one empty. I would be pretty upset if I had paid 5k+ for a table in the empty room
EastCoast: "I will preach. Vegas is easy. So easy. Either be rich or good looking (or mooch off someone who is one of those). If you are neither, then sit back, let the rich and/or good looking people sort their shit out, and then take their scraps. Booking early is not going to get you ahead of the rich and/or good looking people. Sucks unless you are rich or good looking. But that's what makes Vegas so great. It is completely transparent."
A couple other thoughts:
- they'd have to pay for 2 DJs. Sure, they also have twice the amount of tables to sell - but on a regular night they might not sell them all
- imagine the cost of 2 big DJs on a holiday
- what if people only wanted tables in one particular room, and the other was only half-sold. Would just look strange
In summary, it seems like a very delicate balancing act to match capacity in each room with sales

Thanks again guys. I am broadening my options to include a Thursday night bottle service. I have read thant minimums are lower and good options include Tao and Haze or even Tryst. What kind of minimum would one expect for a good table? Say for 6 guys give or take.
