lets say the runners make 1/3 or 1/2 of the amount quoted above... IMO that's still darn-good $$$ for basically filling up ice buckets and removing empty glasses.

Agreed it's good money...what a shitty job though. I'm willing to bet at least 1/2 of them get canned or quit within 6 months also.Originally posted by Cool1g View Postlets say the runners make 1/3 or 1/2 of the amount quoted above... I disagree. It would be ok for Houston, but not darn-good. But for Vegas a 1/3 would probably be close to min wage. Cost of living is a lot higher in Vegas.Originally posted by Cool1g View Postlets say the runners make 1/3 or 1/2 of the amount quoted above... Cost of living is different any place in the world so darn good is a matter of location but like you say Vegas is pretty expensive probably. And according to this 100k is pretty high end....Originally posted by dnix View PostI disagree. It would be ok for Houston, but not darn-good. But for Vegas a 1/3 would probably be close to min wage. I was disagreeing with 26k-50k being "darn-good" not 100kOriginally posted by BrianF View PostCost of living is different any place in the world so darn good is a matter of location but like you say Vegas is pretty expensive probably. anyone's biggest monthly expense is rent... which is dirt cheap in Vegas right now.Originally posted by dnix View PostI was disagreeing with 26k-50k being "darn-good" not 100kOriginally posted by BrianF View PostCost of living is different any place in the world so darn good is a matter of location but like you say Vegas is pretty expensive probably. 26-50K is not 'darn-good $', but its 'darn good for being a busboy IMO.
minimum wage in Vegas is $8.25/hour or $7.25 if you get health benefits. so let's use $8.25/hour x 40 hours = $17,160 per year. So using my VERY conservative #s posted already, a busser is making 50% to 200% above minimum wage for clearing tables and refilling ice buckets. Not bad unskilled work if you can get it.

It's funny reading this thread as I have been reading the forums for a while now. When I started coming here alot of it really was how to do the club scene "on the cheap"; with greasing, stamps, going early etc. It definitely has evolved into how to get the most bang for your buck and I think that is where alot of the posts that the OP views as attacks are coming from. Nobody is saying it cannot be done cheap, just that with more prep or having a contact the time and money in the club is "better" spent. I am with the others though who want to know what host was asking for that handshake at that time of night. Glad you had fun though and thanks for your story.

The "darn-good" was attached to "for basically filling up ice buckets and removing empty glasses." In that context I think it makes sense.Originally posted by dnix View PostI was disagreeing with 26k-50k being "darn-good" not 100kOriginally posted by BrianF View PostCost of living is different any place in the world so darn good is a matter of location but like you say Vegas is pretty expensive probably.
