Would like to point that your handshake at XS seemed a bit high imo. Esp since it didn't include cover AND you were told to be there by 10. Yes i know avicii was there but if you guys havent been to XS lately they changed the GA line and it moves pretty fast now. When I do handshakes I make sure there is a line so i make sure i get my moneys worth as i walk past all those people

I just got back from a Vegas trip my wife and 2 other couples. Maybe a full TR coming in a few days (once my head and the rest of my body gets back to normal).
We went to Surrender for Aoki on Friday night. I was also surprised that it wasn't more packed (I thought it was because Aviici was playing around the corner at XS). We had a table near the gaming area, which was perfect for us. The dance floor tables were having a blast and if I was with a group of single guys, that would be the place to go. But, when you bring "sand to the beach" you don't need security bringing girls over. And we probably could have done GA, but I wanted a place to sit. A casino host set us up with a 1 bottle minimum.
Last time I was at Surrender was MDW and it was crazy packed, but we had a giant cabana for about 20 of us. That was worth every penny.

Thats what I"m trying to say, that the host is a douche. wanted 200 and for us to be there before 10. we didn't go through with it obviously just waited it out for 20 mins n line. and his a highly recommended host on this thread.

I appreciated hearing the OP's perspective, but I would add that the hosts out there all have their own personalities and willingness to help based on your desires. While some will wish you luck when you tell them you arent interested in a 2-bottle min, others are more approachable. Mikey T gave me a good price for a 1-bottle table at Surrender last year, but when I decided we were going to do GA instead, he was very helpful, advising us to get there before they open, get our hand stamped, then return later when it was hopping. I cant say enough about how helpful Tom Gorman was last year too.

no we only had to do 1 bottle minmum so after taxes n everything like 650 ? but we finished our first one so decided to get a second one.

ppl talk about it like the hallway is soo bad, as if its literally some back alley lols .honestly it just looked like an extension of the club, it was dark, red, music blaring, just no confetti lol you folks put so much emphasis on ohh you gotta be in the middle of the dance floor, you gotta be right smack in the middle of the action to have a good time. no doubt that probaly would have been even more awesome but folks, if your an up beat person, your in the mood you'll have fun no matter where your table is.

I am having a hard time believing the whole buy a 3k table or be ignored thing. I am not implying you are not telling the truth at all, but I have never heard this happening to anyone I know and it has never happened to me. I have never came close to spendng 3k on a single table either. I am usually asking for 2 bottles sometime 1 and I have heard back from all hosts within a day. I doubt I am just that lucky.

Though I would keep in mind that planning Vegas trips IS stressful sometimes and the people on this forum do their best to prepare you with the best plan of action. We can't account for all variables and situations that may arise, but we do cover most topics and try to prepare new people and veterans alike the best we can.

I think that your experience reflects just that; sure we may have over-prepared you, but that also probably gave you the confidence and the knowledge to step out on your own because you knew your options
NOT A DOUBT IN MY MIND THIS FORUM IS LOTS OF HELP !!
I just wanted to give some of our readers my 2 cents. just to let them now if they can afford it, duuuh BS, great location is the way to do it, but there are alternatives as well.

maybe I got unlucky, I have no reason to bash the hosts, or lie about this. there is nothing to be gained.

It's certainly good to keep in mind if you're not planning your whole trip around maximizing your club experience and just looking for a good time you can get it done a bit cheaper this way.

I agree it's not as complicated as it can sound sometimes when people (including myself) are describing the process. And in most cases everything goes off smoothly. Once you've done it, like with most things, it seems much more simple.

Re: the host tip. Yeah I tipped $400 when I went. But I REALLY wanted a good location and knew my minimum was borderline. Would I have gotten the same location with less tip...eh maybe. But, this was my wifes 30th Birthday Celebration that I spent two months planning. The extra $200 for "insurance" or whatever you want to call it, was well spent in my mind. At the end of it, I felt I got a great value for the experience and that's all that really matters. That said, everyone is going to have a different feeling of "value" when it comes to an experience.
Hey chuck, exactly yeah, it seemed so complicated at times. yeah your were planning a special night so your tip was probaly more necessary for smooth sailing , makes sense ! but I didn't want anything special just, be polite n gimme a table lols

I know you dont. That is why I made it clear that I dont think youre making it up. I dont know how you contacted anyone either(e-mail, 1 text, pm). I have not had it happen to me yet and like I said, we usually only do 1 or 2 bottles max and I have always been treated like I am spending 3k. And no I cant afford 500 dollar handshakes everywhere so I dont have the best spots, but I have done a few smaller handshakes over time and hosts remember so I think that has helped me establish relationships.

I'm not a big fan of tipping hosts that just walk you to your table and yes i beleive that some hosts give a bad reputation to the good ones.

However, the table that you were seated at has to be one of the worst locations in the entire club. So for a few hundred dollar tip to the host you would have probably been seated in the Main Room or the Opium Room (any area is better then a hallway). I'm pretty sure that this would have changed your night from good to GREAT.

Last time I was at TAO i was wondering who would possibly purchase a table in the hallway. So thanks for answering my question
there was nothing wrong with the hallway, u sit ther when ur tired, drink ur drinks and walk over to the main room if you want, or the opium room if u want. i just wanted to let folks know a mediocre table does not mediocre time. We had a blast, and didn't empty our wallets. not everyone can afford those main room tables man.

We had an experience similar to the OP on a Thursday night in March. We were approached in line, and took a table in the Opium Room. I really enjoyed it. It was lowkey with hiphop (which I enjoy) and we could walk the 30 steps to the Main Room when we wanted.

The waitress took our bottle anytime we all left, and we could bring girls back and actually talk to them. We tipped her, but it was the standard 20% on the receipt.

Like anything, it comes down to personal preference. The Main Room was PACKED, so I liked having a table away from that to take a break every once in a while. I get the sense most people here like being in the middle of it all night.
yeah I swear these folks put alot of emphasis on main room tables, its like peer presure for vegas bs service haha.
