Electronic music superstar Deadmau5 has signed on with XS Nightclub and Encore Beach Club for an exclusive yearlong Las Vegas residency at the clubs beginning on January 2, 2012. "I love that Vegas is really embracing electronic music as their staple entertainment," says Deadmau5, who played several shows at the Wynn Las Vegas resort venues last year. "All of the Sinatras and Rat Packs are now DJs. I've heard Vegas is going to be the next Ibiza, but it's its own thing. Here it's all about flash and show and lights." In this trailer for the residency, Deadmau5 tries out a few new career ideas before deciding to stick with his gig as a dance-music icon.

Saw him 2 times at XS this year, which he did his unhooked sets both times; my honest opinion I am not a big fan of his unhooked shows, he's unhooked sets are extremely more mellow/sounds repeating comparing to his typical shows (actually it gets to boring level). This last Halloween it was better comparing to memorial day weekend, I had fun but he got too drunk and end his set at least 2 hours earlier than normal lol. So I am hoping his residency its not gonna be all unplugged shows. Still great option for 2012 in Las Vegas.

I love Deadmau5, but as he likes to say (especially when he places well in DJmag's "Top 100" DJs) he's not a DJ, he's a music producer. Is he going to have enough stuff to not be repetitive month after month?

On the other hand, with his popularity it's pretty clear XS/Encore Beach aren't going to be struggling to get people in to the shows, so...
