But anything brunch or pastries hell even high tea and you've got my ear lol
Lol. I know what you mean, not so much the pastries but the breakfast part, yeah I might be one the few people in my group that goes to brunch for the food, though I won't turn down a tasty beverage.

Check out Cafeteria in the Chelsea area, not too far from midtown where your staying and they have an interesting comfort food type brunch menu that they serve daily and it's open 24 hours. I think that because of their hours I always seem to run into random athletes and entertainers (usually quite drunk or otherwise stimulated) at that place as well, since it's not that far from a club district in the city.

Tara Denise bottomless brunches are definitely not outlawed in NYC, I was at one last week. I read an article a few months back saying they are but I still know a ton of places that havebthem

Technically it is illegal. In fact some of the hottest brunch spots have shut down/stopped due to this (see Sunburnt Cow). However, many brunch places offer 1-2 hours non stop drinks, but all waiters are told not to dispense drinks at a rate greater than X per hour. However, clearly this would be too difficult to police, so basically it becomes a bottomless brunch. Also check out Savored.com You will thank me. Huuuuge way to save tons of money. 20-40% off all restaurants on the site, INCLUDING alcohol

They have been illegal for awhile, it just suddenly became a previously dormant thing that they threatened to enforce. In any case, the smaller places I usually go to were scared into not doing it last time I was in town- SUCH a bummer. And the theater where I used to work cut off the unlimited champagne specials they used to do for for opening week. Lol clearly I only attend events for the alcohol......but I totally don't have a problem.

ETA a huge +1 for Cafeteria. Best drunk eating I've bad in awhile!

Ok so i think im going to try and convince my friend to stay until at least saturday morning instead of taking a late flight friday. Do you think its worth it to try and stay for friday night or will we have so much to do during the week it wont matter either way.

I would always say staying a Friday in any city that has a decent party scene is well worth it. I think in the case of NYC you'll definitely be happy you went home Saturday instead. Sleep on the plane home!
