What in the hell would possess a person to double down on a blackjack for? I've never heard of that in my life. The odds of hitting have got to be astronomical just to win an extra 50%!
-
Amen to that! I can't tell you how many times I've had to walk away from a good table because some drunk idiot on 3rd base decides he wants to split 10's. I keep hearing on people doubling down on a blackjack (10-A) but I've never seen it.Originally posted by BrianF View PostJust make sure you sit and watch the player on 3rd (last seat to the left) if that player sucks you might as well play roulette. Blackjack is a team game and some people just aren't team players. If you've never played pick up a basic blackjack strategy card and don't deviate from it.

It obviously depends on the exact slot machine, but I believe slots return have anywhere from 5% to 20% house edge. It'll be fixed for a given machine (actually some machines can change the payout, but it's not legal for them to change it while you're playing). That is on average You'll lose between $5-$20 for every $100 you bet. For a properly played hand of Blackjack, the house edge is much lower, I think it's less than 1%. The other thing that tends to bite people on slots vs Blackjack is that you usually make many more bets per hour.

Very true...I personally have two approaches to blackjack depending upon my mood. First is sticking to basic strategy and trying to sit at 3rd base to help the "team". Second is going downtown, drinking like a fish, and playing crazy with no strategy at a low limit table (never at 3rd base). Honestly, most of my big wins have been using strategy number two because I bet like a wild man.Originally posted by BrianF View PostJust make sure you sit and watch the player on 3rd (last seat to the left) if that player sucks you might as well play roulette. agreed...never play for comps.Originally posted by Chuck View PostTrue....but chasing comps is not a good strategy regardless of the game. It is fun to sit there and chill, play some slots, and get some drinks. Especially if theres a couplpe in a row where you and friends can sit, but I would not make a day off it.

Slots def aren't rigged, by law, but the odds are just terrible so it seems that way. The best social gambling is craps. Don't be intimidated by it. Just look for a loud table, place the minimum bet on the pass line and join in the fun for a while. Most people will be happy to teach you along the way. Its really simple after you play for a few rolls.

Hey Chuck
Thanks for the input ^^ Gonna bet my luck on Blackjack
I just got my Mlife players # recently too because I believe I will gamble at their properties more.
In terms of slots, For some reason I always think that they are rigged in someway haha machines
I've always played blackjack when I do gamble (rarely), i think that the experience is better cause you get to interact with others while slots is like isolating yourself lol.

IMO slots suck...they slowly drain your money and are reclusive. Blackjack on the other hand is more communal and WAAAY better odds. I'm an Mlifer mostly because I like their properties better.Originally posted by Mishy View PostOther than the obvious 50/50, what are your experiences w. Blackjack/slots? Which is better?
Where is better ? TR or Mlife
