Blackjack Odds? Slots?

Blackjack definitely has better odds, especially if you play properly. But it does rely on you knowing the right plays. if you are sloppy or drunk, your odds decrease considerably. With slots, its hard to screw up.
Blackjack is a fun social game too. Personally, I like to find a low minimum table and play for the social aspect, knowing that I might drop a hundy (or win a hundy) over the course of an evening but have a lot of fun chatting up the deal and other players at the table.

I can't do slots. I find them to be excruciatingly boring. Unless I'm so plastered that I can barely see. Then its acceptable.
Otherwise, I'm a blackjack guy. Sticking to basic strategy and maintaining an awareness of the flow of the deck (card counting lite) has given me some success.
I won 1200 during a session in Tampa once that saw me likely down a double gin and tonic per 20 minutes.
Being absolutely blitzed at that point, I promptly lost most of it at the rippers shortly afterwards all in a mere half hour. I walked in, was picked off my one of the employees and asked her to bring along two of her friends to the champagne room.
Not my shining moment.

I'm more on slot games. It's a popular game of chance wherein there's thrill and excitement. You can either win in a single spin or lose big time in a snap.

Yeah i got a story like that.
I was BJ at the Fremont downtown IDW '08. Me and these dudes I met from Socal were at this $5 table until like 8 in the morning, i was so bombed and I could not tell you if I won or lost. I remember actually being asked to leave the casino because I was cursing too much. I feel like the vibe downtown at the cheap tables is just about fun, win or lose you are drinking for free and having a good time. It's cheaper than BS at any club!

One of my best nights at the tables was downtown and I was LIT! I vaguely remember sitting third base at a BJ table after cleaning up at Roulette. I dont remember shit from playing BJ but when I dug into my pocket the next day I was greated with a nice wad of hundreds. I just hope I was a responsible third baseman!

I guess we have different ideas on how to gamble. I don't ever sit down to do things I shouldn't just because I'm at a cheap table. Some people just can't afford to play the higher stakes so I don't go slumming the lower limits messing their game up. If I wanna waste cash il play a slot machine.Originally posted by gamepube View PostWhen I play blackjack to really play, I sit down at a $25+ table and play the right way. At that limit and higher everybody generally knows what they are doing, and you don't have people acting like morons. If you sit down at a $5 table on Fremont st. you run the risk of noobs, morons, drunks, etc. ruining the shoe for everyone.
There's a time to play, and a time to gamble.

So true and if it ruins your mood or you're not having fun it is time to leave the table.Originally posted by Ballin View PostPlenty of tables all over vegas. [QUOTE=dcredsox;182968]You see some crazy stuff on the tables, I was on table where some idiots weredoubling down on 12's.[/QUOTE
I have seen that myself and the best part is when the dealer announces to pit boss "doubling down on a breaking hand". Probably their way of saying there is an idiot here.

lol Ask a blackjack dealer next time. It happens, or so they say...Originally posted by BrianF View PostWhat in the hell would possess a person to double down on a blackjack for? I've never heard of that in my life. The odds of hitting have got to be astronomical just to win an extra 50%!Originally posted by hard2hold View PostAmen to that! I can't tell you how many times I've had to walk away from a good table because some drunk idiot on 3rd base decides he wants to split 10's. I keep hearing on people doubling down on a blackjack (10-A) but I've never seen it.Originally posted by BrianF View PostJust make sure you sit and watch the player on 3rd (last seat to the left) if that player sucks you might as well play roulette. Blackjack is a team game and some people just aren't team players. If you've never played pick up a basic blackjack strategy card and don't deviate from it.
