If at the very least, you want to collect about $20-$25 from each person in your group and tip the host that gets you through the ropes.

You may want to take a look at the Palms Deal - -

    http://www.wantickets.com/Events/Sho...ventTicketInfo

    $145 per guy.

That'll get you and your guys an Open Bar of Ketel One Vodka, Don Julio Tequila, Harlem Kruiden Liqueur, Red Bull and Fiji Water from 10pm-1am. As well, you get VIP entry to all 4 Palms Venues (Rain, Moon, Playboy Club, and GhostBar.

It's a good deal - - a lot of JC'ers have done this with fantastic results.

Wont get the same table location, service, and you could get bumped. Plus its nice to help the host out trust me, youll regret not tipping the host.
I don't mind tipping them if they do a good job. I just don't like they idea that they're screw me over if I don't give them money before they even do anything.

If you did 4 bottles, you would probably get a back wall table inside(which is still pretty nice) on saturday, or a third tier table on friday, and it would run you $2520+$400 handshake if you're doing $100/bottle so $2920 out the door.

That same minimum would get you a dance floor table at tryst.
what if I just pay the minimum, tip, tax, but don't do the $400 handshake?

            In Vegas, you tip first.

Yes, it's different than most places... one might even say it's a "gamble". Tipping your host upon your arrival, however, is the safest bet with the biggest payoff in all of Vegas.

I mean, what did you expect - - all the hosts hang out at the end of the night and go table to table asking how things were with their hands extended?

What's the standard tip, how is it calculated? Can I flat out ask the host what he expects, or will that piss him off? They gotta understand this isn't normal practice, it's a grease payment not a tip.

Ask all the questions you want - that's the beauty of the JC Forum. There's a ton of hosts in this group that'll help answer your questions, but realize that tipping the host upon arrival at the club... is the normal practice. Call it grease, call it a tip, call it a handshake, call it what you want.. but these hosts do a great job looking out for the Forum members and we reciprocate with taking good care of them.

It sounds like you are better off going with an independent host. Getting an 'okay' location appropriate to your table minimum is WAY better than getting screwed by someone feeling you've 'cheaped' them.

For a bachelor party a friend attended he contacted a host and said he'd give them $100 for his table of 10 guys (3 bottles at Tao). He was pretty happy with what he received and if he does Vegas again (which is not very often) I imagine he'd use the same guy and probably tip more.

Go with someone looking to build up clientele, not someone that is doing YOU a favor by letting you in.

Just email some indies and be up front about you'll give them - even if the location isn't great you can still have an amazing time, and even a $50 tip to security can get you some girls brought over.

I'm new here, and not a Vegas regular so I honestly don't know... is it common for everyone to grease their host? Or is it mostly this forum that does it?

Also I meant yeah it might be normal in Vegas. I just didn't know how to calculate how much because I haven't greased anyone in my life.
