My take on vegas clubs/nightlife compared with south beach

both are fun but you have to look at context.

on normal weekends without a special event, vegas is much better. its a simple matter in that vegas is a destination spot for people worldwide throughout the year. miami is mainly a winter destination for people in the northeast. vegas just has more tourists with a focus on partying than miami does on a weekly basis.

event weekends in miami (i.e., wmc, food and wine, art basel, etc.) are ridiculous as are holiday weekends in vegas (i.e., memorial day, labor day, halloween, etc.). comparing the 2 would be like asking if you'd like a threesome with 2 victoria secret models or 2 sports illustrated swimsuit models.

This of course translates to a very mixed crowd. You have gorgeous girls and ugly girls all mixed in.
ugly girls, fugly girls, and grenades need love too. besides, someone has to hold the cute girls' purses

The clubs are not exclusive or upscale at all and I had no issues getting into clubs whatsoever (mind you, I was not with girls but with 2 other guys).
you shouldn't have had much trouble, with only 3 guys. the whole point of operating a club is to have people come to it, so i don't necessarily think the fact that Vegas clubs will eventually let (almost) everyone in is a bad thing. exclusivity is for country clubs.

Crowd was pretty much the same across.
is this a bad thing? i don't want to go to a club where everyone looks the same, dresses the same, and acts the same. where's the fun in that?

My advice especially someone coming from a major city with abundant nightlife such as NYC/Miami/Chicago is do not have super high expectations.
MY advice is to never had such high expectations that you are unable to enjoy whatever experience you come upon. Of course a club in Miami is nothing like a club in Vegas, just like its not like a club in NYC just like its not like a club in Ibiza or wherever. The culture in these places is so different it'd be foolish to assume you'll have the same type of experience at each one.

Get a table only if you have a nice group to go with prior (meet girls during the day), would skip the table if you're all guys. Will get very expensive and you may be placed in a less than desirable spot (nothing worse than having a bad table after spending lots of money).
As mentioned, if you want a better table you have to pay for it. And to skip the table if you're all guys is just crazy - nothing worse than a pack of men, looking homeless, wandering the dancefloor...
