I'll find out I guess. Can't be any worse that using hot glue or gorilla glue. Maybe threaded rod and glue as a duel enforcement for the ears.
Looking forward to pics of the lights.

Is the foam dense enough for threaded rod? I have 1/8" thick craft wood thinking about increasing it to 1/4".
I put 2 packs of 8" x 5 yards of plaster gauze over a 14 " beach ball. I also located some pretty dope purple battery powered lights ...... Took some pics, I just got home from work, let's see if I can throw a hour at it

Looking good!Originally posted by rjleslie View PostHere's where I'm at so far. The BlackBerry camera doesn't do the head justice just yet. I spent the better part of watching our lowly Lions go 0-3 yesterday mapping out some of the items along with how to open up one of the 5" openings and draw the mouth on the bottom portion for sectioning.

Head disassembled and ready for cutting with a dremel tool. I think I need to go pick up some polycarbonate blades tomorrow though. My 4-year old digs this costume and wonders where the dead mouse is all the time...

Ears and material- ears may need a bit of more shapping to them but the contour to fit the ball is good. Debating on getting some threaded rod to assemble the ears to the head with a nut and washer setup versus hot gluing the ears to the head.

Nervous about styrofoam ears being too fragile. I have tools galore in my garage so I went with wood.
Possible strategic bling rhinestone placement or battery powered blinky Xmas lights around eyes and or mouth......
We shall see

I like the idea for the eyes. I'll have to look into those.
Here's what I'm in so far-
(2) 4" styrofoam balls @ $3.49 ea @ Michaels
(2) 15 and 7/8" styrofoam circles (ears) @ $6.99 ea @ Michaels
(1) 13" mega hamster ball cage @ $24.99 less $3.75 with 15% off coupon @ PetSmart
1 yard of red velvet fabric to cover ears and head @ $4.19/yd
1/2 yard of white mesh fabric for mouth @ $1.29/yd
So, roughly $50 deep after you factor in Michigan's 6% sales tax.
