Sure I still like it! I'm thinking the island is either some sort of paradise or some sort of purgatory / limbo place. This might explain why no one can conceive on the island too, actually. And it is really there in the ocean, or else the submarine couldn't come and go, the Widmore boat wouldn't have found it, etc.
Either way I'm sort of glad to see the whole plot is actually pretty simple with the battle between Jacob and the man in black. Some people think the show is loosely based on the story of Jacob and Esau ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacob_and_Esau ) who were twin brothers in ancient Israel, always battling each other.

Agreed.Originally posted by NyceGuy View PostI don't think the island is hell or purgatory. That whole scene where Richard says that it's hell and they're all dead is just the writers poking at the fan theories that used to come up all the time when the show initially started. Which was that they were all dead and in purgatory.
I liked the Richard episode and I also enjoyed learning more about the relationship between the black smoke and Jacob.
I think the Island is what it is....a special island, I don't think its anything more than that and I definitely hope they don't make it into anything religious more so than they already have.
Every episode im more excited and more sad at the same time....it's gonna suck when the show is over
On a sidenote, I got another person to bite the bullet...my friend Jen just gave in 2 nights ago (after the richard episode) and started watching from the first season...SHE'S HOOKED!!! MUHAHAHA. The last 2 days she's been up when I leave for work at 5am watching episodes on netflix, lol...so awesome!-WarreN aka "The Business"

lmao that's awesome. I love when people get into it after i suggest it. They ALWAYS get hooked. I have yet to find one person who wasn't hooked once they started season 1. And i can say to them is, "you have no clue what kind of crazy turns this show takes."Originally posted by WarreN View PostAgreed.

I think richard's episode was in my top 3 of the entire series. It brought the show back to the element of mystery and wonder that it used to have back in the first 2 seasons while answering the question of Richard's origin. It handled the relationship between Jacob and Man in black amazing, and altho they really didn't explain who they are, we now understand their purpose in a way.

True....I wonder if he will be THE candidate....the one to carry on as Jacob's replacement....hmmmmm??????????Originally posted by nardo21 View PostI also like how Hugo has grown so much and is becoming much more of a strong character. They initially made it seem like he was unstable because he "thought" he saw dead people, but know it is more like a special ability and he is adding value to the team-WarreN aka "The Business"

Just saw all episodes and I m finally caught up. I swear Richard episode was like a telenovella for a sec there! But he is a pretty solid actor. So we find out that Jacob is trying to keep all the evils of the world in the island and they are in hell? So I guess the whole show is about being in purgatory.Originally posted by Bababooey323 View PostRichard episode. Thoughts???????????????

That's what people thought when the show first started. There were a few fan theories that went around, one was purgatory, one was that everything was happening in the Dog's head. But it's def not purgatory, but I do believe that the show's central theme is good vs evil. Even the first episode where Locke and Walt play backgammon, and Locke explains the rules of the game (similar to the Wire when the game of Chess is explained), it's a metaphor for the entire show.Originally posted by royale View PostJust saw all episodes and I m finally caught up. I just talked to my coworker and she said its not purgatory because JJ Abrahms actually did a podcast and announced its not going to be that type of a twist. So I guess we will see what happens. We won't know until the finale.Originally posted by NyceGuy View PostThat's what people thought when the show first started. The man in black can't leave the island because he's trapped there. The producers have definitely said the Losties are not dead, are not in purgatory, not inside someone's imagination. So maybe the island is not purgatory in the normal sense, but perhaps a sort of purgatory-like place on earth... maybe just the man in black's purgatory?
