is monday traditionally a big night for brits to go out drinking? like over here thurs/fri/sat are the big nights...i don't think anyone (or anyone i know at least) drinks on a monday really

I used to mainly drink on Mondays and Tuesdays but that was because my days off were Tues and Weds. It was a lot more chill though but I had a friend who had a poker game at his house every Monday night and he lived in PB, which has tons of places to drink!!! Anyways I'd start at one end of the street and hit a few bars and show up to his poker game smashed! Then I'd usually win a good amount Havent done that in a while though.

This is the best hangover cure ever, or so I've been told. I devised it myself for my friend Ashley who has a hangover after one shot.


Before bed - eat half a banana. It sounds ridiculous, but the reason you get a hangover is because of the depletion of electrolytes in your body. The electrolytes help keep you hydrated and your body functioning. Bananas are LOADED with potassium, vitamin c and magnesium. Metabolizing them while you sleep greatly reduces your chances of feeling like a bag of bricks teabagged your face all night. (and the vitamin c helps combat any casino crap you may encounter that will completely ruin your Vegas stay.)

Also, upon awakening VitaminWater's Revive will do exactly as it says. Just enough sugar to get your metabolism going, tons of electrolytes and water to get you hydrated again. Also, eat the other half of the banana and something with some protein - eggs are your friend!

Smart Water also contains those key electrolytes, so keep a bottle or two handy in your room if bananas are out of the question.

And another friendly hint, stay away from darker alcohols. The more tannins in the alcohol, the darker the liquid, the worse the hangover. Stick to vodka, gin and light beer if you're planning on drinking those alcohols all night. Tannins also stain the hell out of your teeth, so stay away if you're going to imbibe mass quantities!


One more thing - never, ever, ever, don't fucking do it - take tylenol or any other acetaminophen products to help with a hangover. Acetaminophen metabolizes the same way alcohol does and completely destroys your liver twice as bad as the alcohol alone. Naproxen, aka Aleve, is your best friend if bananas and Vitamin Water don't help.

Motrin is ibuprofen, Advil contains both aspirin and ibuprofen, Aleve is naproxen.
Motrin is more of an anti-inflammatory and fever reducer than a pain reliever, although, it still causes pain reduction as it reduces inflammation.

Asprin, aka advil, is a blood thinner.

Naproxen is also an anti-inflammatory, but because of it's chemical makeup, it's easier on the liver when combined with alcohol.

I know what Aria posted about darker alochols causing hangovers, but for me, I'm not good with champagne, white wine, or tequila.
and maybe I've been tricked by Grey Goose into thinking this, but I feel that I get hangovers if I drink well or crappier vodkas.. like fkng absolut.

Huh??? Vodka is like the staple liquor, it goes with everything and I've drunk for years!!

But got to admit wine does give me shitty hangovers, so I'm trying to stick to spirits. Gin is the nicest, but does make me a bit sad sometimes. Minimal hangovers though, compared to the shit that wine gives me!

Thanks for all the drugs advice! I guess I'll just stick with paracetamol! (combined with ibroprofen!!)

nah. vodka is not a fashionable drink unless it's mixed with a liqueur such as alize or chambord. Or it's a flavored vodka such as van gogh espresso (although being flavored makes it no longer a vodka). but vodka is a traditional drink..

Vodka is a staple for even the most basic bar..and has been for ages.
It is good by itself, and mixes well with just about everything. if you drink it neat, I'm sure most can tell the difference between a good and a bad one.

I do agree that GGoose is more fashionable though..

personally, i prefer smirnoff over gg but maybe cause i'm thrifty..

+1. Pre-partied with it during my last trip in August (mrankimonki made a TR mentioning it). More cost effective than the Goose, and no dreaded hangover either (like you get with Smirinoff for example).

I just bought a bottle of this back from Belgium coz it was only a tenner and who doesn't want a bottle of S&M vodka in their drink's cabinet!

I just find with Goose and other premium vodka's that they lack the whatever it is that makes me shudder and want to throw up that Smirnoff and other cheap vodkas have.
