February 24th- March 7th- Florida with the wife and kids
April 26th- 29th- Myrtle Beach "Golf" Trip w/ the college crew
August 23rd- 26th- VEGAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think you can do vegas on a budget. I didn't spend that much on alcohol etc. the last three times I went.
It helped that I got free alcohol at the poker tables. And it helped too that I won enough at those tables to offset the expense of the trip 80-100%.
When I go with larger groups of people though, I intend to do it big. I think both ways can be fun.
As far as the absurdity of navigating a byzantine set of rules to really get the most out of your experience, I figure there's just a learning curve for everything.
You could just get some beers and drink them at home. Watch Nerds I-III. Get some jergens...
This site is dedicated to the ridiculous. Gambling is ridiculous. Flying 3,000 miles to pay $400 for a $20 bottle is ridiculous. Paying money for a bed in a building where they rent beds is ridiculous. Why not just stay home? Las Vegas is Ridiculous.
Why even read this stuff? Jack Colton must be ridiculous.
Now wait a second. You're not getting me at all. I never said anything about hotel rooms being ridiculous, you're quite stretching over there. Particularly when you look at what you get for what you pay vs. other cities (any idea how much a Venetian-like room in New York would go for? A LOT more than $149/night). I'm not talking about paying bar prices for a drink. (Though I do take issue with forcing 3 people to drink a liter of vodka which is ~34oz., or 7-8 drinks per person!)
I'm talking about "the absurdity of navigating a byzantine set of rules" -- that's what's ridiculous. I've been on this site a couple of weeks, and I still can't figure out whether I have to pay cover if I'm on the guest list, do I have to tip and who and how much, which line do I get in, is it a line or do I have to push to the front, etc. Just let me in the da*n club!!!!! Argh!!!

Thats because its different for each venue/doorman/host
Most clubs dont have a guest list line. Although, Tao does. Paying cover is really up to the doorman. Ive paid cover at Tao. Ive had cover waived at Pure. Ive paid and had it waived at Body English. Its really all about supply and demand, just like anywhere else.

ha. Well that's why you're here right?
After hearing some of the info on this site it doesn't seem as daunting. It's definitely not straightforward and there are no universal answers, but it seems like something a group of drunk people can reasonably do.
Which is good, because that's what I'll be most of the time.
