the reason it didn't do well is because they didn't have any advertising in the mainstream media. unless you can afford to put commercials on TV, you aren't going to draw crowds to the theater.

Because I can't resist piling on:

I market movies for a living. Therefore I can officially diagnose the problem with the film as being three-fold.

-The film went too wide, too fast. A grassroots campaign doesn't work out to a 140 screen release. It needed to slowly ramp up.

-He played only to his fanbase, nobody that hasn't read the book has heard of him, and therefore the movie.

-Tucker Max is a fucknugget, and the only way non-fucknuggets will see his movie is if it features him getting repeatedly sodomized by a subway turnstile.

And for what it's worth, I saw my fair share of commercials for the movie.

I used to read his blog and loved how fucked up some of the shit he had gotten in to (sushi pants being the most epic) but after seeing interviews with the guy, he's such a fucking douche that I couldn't keep reading his stuff.

I hope his mother slaps the shit out of him one day. Hilarious adventures but the guy himself is a fucking moron.

every post on the quality of person(max) is dead on...however the book, blog and in general storytelling skills are great, hilarious, and gasp! refreshingly honest. Helped passed the time in the middle east quite nicely
