Thursday PM- I had a get-together to celebrate my 29th with family and friends at a restaurant in Oakland, so I could hang with my folks that weren’t coming to Vegas. And ummm… “I had one too many drinks…!” LOL It was a good time! I was so happy to see cousins I hadn’t seen in forever. I think I made it to bed around 2am.

Friday AM- I was meeting my BFFs in Vegas (Ka from DC, Mai from NY and Maya was coming from Oakland with her coworkers). We all went to middle and high school together and all get together once or twice a year. My flight was leaving at 7am from SFO and my girl was picking me up at 5:30am to give me a ride. So I hopped out of bed at 5:25 and ran around the apartment like a crazy person, showering and throwing everything back in my bags! I was NOT going to miss my flight.

She was right on time (I was not. Lol) We cruised over the Bay Bridge and into the city with no problems. Got to the airport and PRAYED I wouldn’t be harassed about having two carry-ons and a purse. Last time I traveled they made me consolidate and that is a super pain in the @ss!! Checked in with Virgin America quick and easy, and headed to security. They didn’t say anything about my bags!! I almost did a cartwheel! Flight was boarding when I got to the gate so I walked right on. There was a definite buzz of excitement on the plane… I noted it on my FB status update and two minutes later the flight attendant said the same thing over the loudspeaker! Something tells me this trip is going to be epic…

Landed on time at 8:30am… Stopped at the ATM and headed right out to the non-existent cab line. For the record, I think this turned out to be the smoothest trip I have EVER been on. And I’ve been on a lot of trips. I think it took about 20-25 minutes to get to the hotel. We were staying at the Excalibur, which was NOT my first choice. But it was a GREAT deal and close to the MGM where I knew we’d be hanging out, we were only sleeping and changing, yadda yadda. So, I get there and apparently you have to pay $20 (or some crap) to check in early! Umm what the hell? No thank you. So I took a seat, and thought about what I would do next… Then I remembered my homie from college was in town so I texted him. He was in town for a friend’s bachelor party so I dropped my bags at baggage storage and met up with him for coffee at the MGM. He’d been traveling for work and was going home, so our visit was bittersweet. I thought he’d be there all weekend!

Just as we were finishing our coffee my girl Mai called and said she was at the hotel. It was about 11am now so I gave homie a big hug goodbye and ran over to meet Mai. They told her we could check in, so we did and upgraded to a strip view for $10 extra a night. Found our way to our room, bellman brought my bags up in RECORD time (I was AMAZED, more smoothness) so we unpacked a little and made an afternoon plan. My girl Maya made it over from her hotel and we decided to go for a little walk to find food and make a liquor run. We walked out toward the strip and what do we find… A Jello Shot stand!! Yay!! We went easy and got two a piece (I think?)

JEEEZUS CHR*ST it was HOT walking to the Miracle Mile shops!!! And what’s the deal with the people giving out free club passes?? I thought we were gonna be harassed by porn slappers not guestlist people! Of course the girls need a few things to make their evening outfits complete so we shopped around…. Grabbed some sandwiches… Went swimsuit shopping… Found nothing… Headed back out to the Strip. We were going to get pre-drinking supplies at the ABC Store in the mall but someone thought there was a liquor store back out on the Strip that would have lower prices… Not sure whose dumbass idea that was but the place we ended up only had beer and wine! Grrr. It was WAY TOO F*CKING HOT to walk back so we ended up with a couple bottles of “champagne”. lol Good enough!! Made it back to the hotel and passed out waiting for our 4th to arrive. When she got there she was PISSED to find us napping. Haha! “No NAPPING IN VEGAS!! GET THE HELL UP!!” She ran downstairs to get food from Baja Fresh (our weekend savior) then she laid down and went to sleep.

Friday PM- Up a couple hours later and start the transformation process that takes FOREVER. I swear it takes my friends the longest time to get dressed… always. So we missed the JC meetup and were twenty minutes late for hour dinner ressie at N9NE! The downing of the two bottles of “champagne” while getting dressed did not help expedite the process. We finished up our last bottle in the cab on the way to the Palms. The cabbie thought whatever we were yakking about was hilarious… I don’t remember but we get going and we don’t care who is listening!! Got to the restaurant and as we were checking in Drew Gooden was walking out. He’s SO CUTE but I’m no groupie so I didn’t say sheeit! Haha! (I actually met him once a long time ago and he was behaving like a man whore so I was in no rush to rekindle our romance. )

Made our way to our table right next to the bar in the middle of the restaurant and saw DJ Jazzy Jeff having dinner in one of the booths. The food is soooooo delicious… and we didn’t even order all that much! We were stuffed and couldn’t finish our food!! Maybe it was the bubbly… or the martinis… One of the cute host/manager guys (ADAM) came over to talk to us (flirt!) and Mai FUMBLED and knocked her drink on the floor trying to shake his hand. We joked on her for the next twenty minutes while they cleaned up her mess and brought her a fresh drink. The music was great and we were partying at the table when out comes my special birthday dessert!! S’MORES!! We are such greedy asses we stuffed ourselves even though we weren’t hungry. Trying not to fall asleep at the table, we ordered some Red Bull and went to freshen up and go upstairs. I LOVE N9NE!!!!!

We rolled up to ghostbar first... my name was on the list... (thank you Jamaal, Chapp and Jack!) Got stamped and up the elevator in no time!! My girl met some dude on the strip that told her she was on the list and had to go get wristbands but in my drunkenness I was like “Nah, I’m not gettin’ no damn wristband. We’re going upstairs NOW.” And that’s what we did. LOL I was also just being a lazy ass and just didn’t want to go on a wristband-finding adventure…

OMG… The view outside was awesome! (As I’m sure you all know!) The only thing was it was still HOT AS HELL! I thought for sure it would be windy! No breeze and the cigarette smell was thick… but I could’ve stayed up there all night!!!! We got in some pics, Maya met some Brits and decided to go over to Moon. I was trying to see if I could recognize any JC members but come on… I could barely see 3 feet past my face! Breezed over to Moon and up the elevators. I LOVE MOON!! We danced and then my girls started drinking water! WTF!?! The girls gave me a shot of Goose though… Danced and danced some more… Went to the bathrooms and watched this guy walk SMACK into a closed door. LMAO I have no idea how you do that!! Went back to the dance floor and waited for my college homie’s bachelor party friends to come upstairs from Rain. Had another drink and danced with them when they got there. My girls had met some dudes and taken over half their booth because their feet hurt. BOOOO!

The girls were ready to leave so we headed downstairs and I made them come with me to Rain just to “see” before we left… Jazzy Jeff was spinning and the place was pretty awesome! My first time in there too. We climbed the stairs to the top balcony and the bachelors showed up right after us. The girls went to find somewhere to sit while I partied with the bachelors and had another drink… (I forgot about that drink until just now! Lol!) The girls started texting and calling and I ignored them, until one came back and said they were ready to go. The groom-to-be was gassing me up about it being my birthday and only being in Vegas for the weekend so let them sit!!! So I did!! We promised to see the guys at the pool party the next day and headed back to the room. I remember seeing some McDonald’s in the room before I konked out.
