hmmm ... now i'm as confused as ever. i assumed the 20% service charge at tao would cover the server not the host who arranged the table. does anyone know the scoop at tao?

i also figured since this is the tao direct contact and not independent i would fish for a nice table and then tip the host appropriately ~ 50 -100+ dependent on the location. as i said the host already quoted me a minimum and the location (opium close to dancefloor).

I want to get all the business out of the way so that if I get too drunk to count, I don't have to worry about it. Is $50 a good handshake for a bouncer, or does that depend on how many are in the group?

A great bouncer will walk you or your group friends (girls) to the bathroom, get girls for the group, and make sure you're not bumped into at the club. What would you pay for this service if it was just you? Multiply that by the group size and you'll find a number that is perfect.

The 20% service charge is going to be for your waitress. If you got a 2 btl minimum, which will be in the Opium Room, You handshake your host 150-200, and BBBOOOMMMM appears a table on the main floor. Hope that makes more sense for you.

Thursday is a day when every club in vegas (for the most part) is open and 1 bottle or buy 1 get 1's or even buy 1 get 1s + comp champagne or hookah are available. Look into Haze or Tryst first, then look to moon, pure, bank, lax and if those dont float your boat, hit me up.

I think they are talking about the inner tables, not on the wall. its been about 2 years since i stepped foot in tao so they may have changed it. Way better parties IMO. In 2008 and 2009 I was all about tao on thursdays, they used to comp me 1 to 4 bottles depending on my group size and ratio

What's wrong with paying up front? I've seen people here recommend paying up front to avoid confusion. At least for the initial round of bottles. I'm definitely collecting up front!

As far as the bouncer tip, I just want him to not kick us out and not let people drink our shit. I think I'll play that one by ear!

A host does not have the luxury of not being nice as there is no guarantee that they will see anything AND they did all the work to get you into that location. Just seems kinda bogus to me."

Well clearly you have never worked in the business or as a host, The 20% auto grat gets divided among all the employees. The host gets quite a bit and so does the bar. In a majority of places in Vegas and other cities servers get about 5-7% of that auto grat. Most servers work very very hard as do the hosts. But just be informed everyone gets a cut of that auto grat.

Bottle Service Tipping

Is this entirely comped by the casino? Normally the tip for the server is 18 and is automatically added on to your tab. Its usually a 1 bottle minimum for every three people in your group, and bottles usually start at 500. In addition to the female server, you will also have a male assistant that will seriously be tending to your every need. He will be constantly refilling your mixers and your ice and pouring your drinks. If the entire bill is being comped I would probably tip around 80-100 to the server at the end. Im not completely sure about tipping the host you booked it through. I dont think they are normally tipped, I could be wrong.
