Basically you take your minimum multiplied by 1.28 (20% gratuity, 8% tax... Some clubs charge a 10% LET—live entertainment tax—also, so you'd multiply by 1.38) and then add the host shake on top of that.

However, keep in mind that sometimes bottles aren't exactly going to hit your minimum. If the bottle you choose is $450, and your minimum is $3k, you'd need 7 bottles, and would actually spend $3150. So with tax/tip (assuming no LET) you're at $4032 plus your host shake (we'll call it $300 for this example) and your total spend would be $4332.

However, it's also common practice to tip your "runner" (the person who refills your juice, brings clean glasses, busses your table, etc.) and security (especially if you want security to keep other people away from your table and/or help bring women over to your table). These tips can start at $20 and go up from there depending on how good they are, how much you ask of them, etc.
So basically your table minimum is the minimum you have to spend in bottles correct? So let's use Lights 2500 min and say you get 5 bottles for 500 to hit that min. And of course the 1.38 for tax LET and so forth.

Min = $ that has to leave your pocket and be given to the venue. It doesn't matter on what it is spent

      1 $2500 bottle
      5 $500 bottles
      250 $10 beers
      500 $5 hot dogs

All that matters is that you hit the $2500 mark somehow because you initialed on a piece of paper before you entered that you would.

If you don't they break your legs just like in the movies.

So what is a good host tip for a 2K / 2.5K minimum?

500? I would say 250-300. That Min is not that big.

Maybe I misunderstood the question. He asked what a "good" tip was, not what an adequate tip was haha. I thought he meant like "what can I tip to show the host that I really really appreciated the help"

Agreed. $250-300 is a good tip for the min range. $500 is a GREAT tip and should probably reserved for exceptional service.

$500 handshakes are pretty much only for XS saturday nights where its mandatory.

Theres alot of maths here around minimums guys. It sounds way more complicated than it actually is!

A $2500 minimum is just that. You have to spend $2500! Thats all.
There's no muliply by x or y or all that! This aint bastard algebra! ts like a restaurant. You get your bill, and then there's service and tax on top. Which is 28% usually.

The expectation is that you tip your host (AKA the handshake) and the expectation is you tip your security and runner. You dont have to of course.

Normally it works like this. You message your host. They quote you a minimum spend. Thats it. Add 28% to get your total

Now - if you want to build a relationship, or get a better table or location that your minimum would normally get you, then you tip the host (handshake). EG "can you put me on a dancefloor table for a $300 handshake".

I mean, adding 28% to your total IS math.

And we tell people about tipping hosts/runners/security because its a pretty standard thing to do, so people should be aware.

Right, but isn't that what this forum is here for? Helping people figure out how to do Vegas in the best way possible?

I could be wrong. Or maybe its because I worked in the service industry.
