For Marquee, we weren't allowed in with a white v-neck tshirt or beaters. I'm not sure what that was about as we pointed out that we'd tip him to walk us in. He told us to change and come back, but we decided to go elsewhere.

I still find it amusing that people get turned away for wearing certain items of clothing that will be coming off as soon as they are on the other side of the velvet rope! That being said your in Vegas you should be making a better effort than throwing on a white wifebeater wherever you're going! An 8,000 mile journey is always worth it when it ends in Vegas!

Probably because your crew looked like trash. White v-necks and beaters? Come on man, those items are made to go underneath other clothing. You should never go out in public like that. Have some pride in your appearance.Originally posted by bluexcrush View PostFor Marquee, we weren't allowed in with a white v-neck tshirt or beaters. I have to say, I kind of love being privy to the amount of fretting that guys have to do about dress codes at clubs. It evens the score a little bit for all the time I spend shopping and planning my outfits (which I love doing, honestly, but I still like to pretend it's a hassle)!
I'm not bitchy, I'm just drawn that way.

Lol. I don't know too many women that don't enjoy a good shopping spree, and Vegas and other large cities tend to be the only places where men have to give any thought at all to what they wear to ensure they are accepted. That being said, it's not like the clubs ask for much collared shirts/ jackets and shoes, or a basic Casual T shirt is something most men should own.Originally posted by Tara Denise View PostI have to say, I kind of love being privy to the amount of fretting that guys have to do about dress codes at clubs. You'd be surprised. Going out in Denver, NY and Chicago, I've run across guys who are SHOCKED their sneakers or whatever scruffy disgusting undershirt they put on aren't welcome into upscale clubs. I feel like...if I've gone to the trouble of wearing stilettos and a nice dress, dressing halfway decently is the least they can do.Originally posted by Brooklyn Marc View PostLol. As for pool parties, I don't expect anything extravagant on guys poolside but being clean cut and put together goes a very long way.I'm not bitchy, I'm just drawn that way.

That being said, I get do get pissed if I can't get into an upscale club in Denver/Seattle/etc. (something below NYC/Chicago for exclusivity/dress code) wearing a nice shirt, blazer, clean jeans, but brand new, clean, canvas shoes. I don't need to be in leather dress shoes for a club in Seattle, come on.Next Trip: October 28-31, 2016

No it's really not that surprising as you would think having been to all of those cities numerous times and witnessing the same exact scene. Living in NY I'm amazed every weekend by this happening to several people on any given night. And yes you as a woman have a reasonable expectation of some semblance of people taking pride in their appearance, though I imagine you could tell many stories of men just not giving a shit. Lol.Originally posted by Tara Denise View PostYou'd be surprised. Haha well, I DID live in Birmingham, Alabama for a few years...yikes! I have had to tell multiple guys: "look at me....now look at yourself and reevaluate walking up to me as if I'm gonna talk to you and your musty armpits."
Haha, that's true. Definitely don't expect extremely high standards in cities with smaller nightlife scenes, but I still am consistently surprised and amused when Ashy Larry and his Dudebros are so put out about not being admitted while looking like a pile of dirty laundry. Clearly, Denver is not a nightlife Mecca but OMG you can't just leave the Brincos game and show up at a nice club in your jerseys and face paint! Girls have those moments as well (I have one friend who always wants to latch onto our group dressed like she's going to a sports bar...this friend gets left home often), but to a lesser extent.Originally posted by chrisbru View PostThat being said, I get do get pissed if I can't get into an upscale club in Denver/Seattle/etc. (something below NYC/Chicago for exclusivity/dress code) wearing a nice shirt, blazer, clean jeans, but brand new, clean, canvas shoes. I've never actually seen anyone get turned away from a pool party, but I haven't been to a lot of them. We did get flagged down and invited to a couple of them while obviously not in swimsuits on my bachelorette trip last year, so that was interesting. We were all in workout gear for the stripper pole class. Lol it is nice being a girl sometimes.I'm not bitchy, I'm just drawn that way.
